Ledum is an important first aid remedy used to treat slow healing wounds. It has antiseptic properties and is used for insect stings, cuts, grazes, puncture wounds and black eyes, and it helps to relieve associated pains.
Ledum is effective for injuries which are characterised by severe bruising with puffy, purplish skin and stinging pain.
Ledum is also given for rheumatic pain in the joints. Such pain may appear to move upwards and the affected area may feel chilly to the touch, but to the affected person that area may feel hot on the inside.
Ledum is especially indicated when such pains can be helped with a cold compress.
This remedy can be useful in preventing tetanus. It can also be used to treat and prevent ticks and bites on pets and animals.
